The Daughter of Darkness - Fanfic: Chapter 1

Welcome back, it's Lilliana here! I'm ecstatic to announce that I'll be releasing my very first fanfiction starring my own fictional female lead: Celestria Desdemona! I hope you enjoy this figment of my imagination! I've been raving about writing my own fanfic for weeks but I haven't officially posted one yet! This is set in the world of PJO (Percy Jackson)! Please comment if you'd like me to continue with this fanfic!

Chapter 1: This Feeling

My life is perfect. I have a loving mother and father. The closest four friends anyone could ask for. The sweetest boyfriend imagined. Good grades and popularity. What more could anyone ask for?

I looked down the window to see Lucas, my brown, curly haired, athletic boyfriend. He’s the captain of the basketball team and 2nd top of the class! So many people fawn over him, but I’m grateful that he chose me! Imagine our future life together! Lucas could pursue his dream as a businessman and I could become a dancer! We could buy a house and maybe even have childre-

“Miss Desdemona!”, Mr William’s voice boomed, “Once you’ve had enough of looking at your reflection in the window, maybe you could consider listening, hmm?”

I blushed in embarrassment and lowered my head, “Sorry sir, I promise it won’t happen again”.

Avery elbowed me in the rib.

“Ow, that hurt, how is it that you can hit so hard?”, I whisper-screamed, hurt.

“I told you I’m magical”, Avery replied smugly, “besides, if I don’t you’re gonna get yourself into trouble again”.

“Have some faith will you”, I retorted, “I’m not that rebellious”

Haily poked me on the shoulder from behind, “Hmm, I don’t think rebellious is the right word though”.

“Right?!”, Julia butted in, “It’s more like . . . naive”

I was aghast, “Hey-!”

“Jules has a point, you're really ignorant, Tria”, joined Rachel.

“Why you-!”. I tried to come up with a comeback but the other four were already murmuring in agreement. Betrayed, I sulked. I was about to storm outside when my nose slammed into something, the words I’m sorry on the tip of my tongue.

“Tria? Are you ok? Who dares bully my girl?”, that familiar tone and joking ring. I gasped- “Lucas!”

Lucas was able to tell my situation quickly, “You four should consider your future actions carefully”, he said, face darkened.

Everyone laughed.

Jules was the first to speak, “Sure thing, prince charming. Let’s get lunch now, I’m starving”.

“Rude!”, I commented, “Not even a sorry?”

“I know that you’ll forgive us either way, Tria!”, Julia said.

I was annoyed but it was hard to keep a mad face with all my friends tackling me.

My name is Celestria Desdemona and I’m the only child of Lauren and Adam Desdemona. I’m currently 12 and have been living in Edgewater since 2010 (technically my whole life!). I’m also the leader of this year's ballet team and a popular actress in our drama club at Edgewater High.

My friends on the other hand, Avery is an ice-skater and a renowned tutor in this highschool. Hailey is a pianist who’s amazing at writing songs. Julia is an incredible artist and photographist. Rachel is this school’s editor for Edgewater’s weekly papers: “The Edgy Post”.

I know, it may sound like a horrible name at first, but when you realise that the teachers have probably racked their brains for hours to think of a name, you can call it wondrous!

Lunch passed after Avery and I accidentally drenched Lucas and his friends in water. We felt horrible but Hailey and Julia couldn’t stop laughing while Rachel took some photos. I could hear her say “If I could twist this story, it’ll be this week’s top article”. I giggled.

I didn’t understand how we were able to get seven hyper boys soaked. We were just refilling our 1 litre bottles to prepare for fifth period PE, but these dummies decided to jumpscare us! I heard Avery sigh, “At least they’ve gone quiet?”, she suggested.

I laughed, “And this’ll probably be a lesson for them too! You boys should know what you’re up against!”, I added.

Wrong choice. While the boys went into fifth period soaked, we arrived with our hair feral. Avery was also sent to the principal's office for setting off the fire alarm, but no one would believe us when we said that it was her scream!

Poor Julia was also sent to the infirmary because she couldn’t get enough oxygen. Ofcourse, that meant that Hailey and Julia would explode in laughter too!

The last bell rang, children were cheering. The sun was setting and the sky was filled with beautiful yellow-orange hues. It’s been a long but lovely day! After the five of us hugged each other one last time, we said (or cried) our farewells.

A smile was plastered on my face for the whole trip home, which was only a few blocks away, despite the uncomfortable sunlight on my face. I saw the tree’s lined on the other side of the road cast a path of shadows. I raced across the road. The second I reached the shadows, I let out a breath of relief I didn’t realise I had.

It felt nice and cool and at home. I reached into my black duffel bag and pulled out my black, pink and purple galaxy phone case. Smiling, I saw my mum calling me.

“Tria!”, my mum shrieked, “I heard that Avery was sent to the principal's office! Is Julia alright? The two didn’t go into a fight did they? I heard that Julia was sent to the infirmary! Was any other of your friends hurt? Was it Avery?”.

My mum fired questions at me but I couldn’t possibly answer all of them so quickly. Instead, I laughed at her confusion.

“Sorry mum”, It was really funny if you thought about it!, “I’ll clear out your confusion and explain it to you”.

A few minutes later, my mum and I were laughing and talking about our day’s events. I looked up and noticed a parting in the tree’s. I was ready to feel the uncomfortable heat against my skin, but when I passed underneath the tree, the coolness from the shadows didn’t leave.

“What . . .?”

I stared at the place under the tree where there was a parting, where my feet were seconds before. The shadows . . . they were morphing! Or at least, I think it was, small blobs of shadows were moving back under the tree. It reminded me of a lava lamp and how a small piece of “lava” could float away but just as easily join back. It was mesmerizing to watch as the shadows joined back-

“-Ia! Tria! Are you okay honey? What happened?”, my mum cut in, throwing me back to reality.

I blinked and looked back at the tree parting.

There was nothing out of the ordinary.

There were no shadows where shadows shouldn’t be.

“M-mum. No, I’m sorry. I just saw . . . a stray cat. You were saying?”. I normally don’t lie to my mum and I felt horrible, but I don’t want her to worry over me either.

Mum was reluctant to continue, “Alright, if you insist, anyways . . .”

My mum started recounting her adventure with an annoying co-worker, but something felt different. That coolness I felt before, it was gone, replaced with the touch of warmth on my back.

It felt so uncomfortable.

But that feeling before

What was it?

I was hoping to leave this story suspenseful by not saying anything at the end but I wanted to claim these characters and places. As far as I know, these idea's, characters, places and situations are all created by me and any relation it has to reality is pure coincidence.

That aside, thankyou so much for sparing sometime to read this! If you enjoyed this, I'm hoping to finish this fanfic too! Today's post was just a sneak peak of Celestria's life but I'll definitely give a more in-depth story of Tria next post!

Lilly
