Geia (hi in Greek) and welcome to back to Eckheart, all my wonderful TDOD readers! Lillian, your author for today is excited to show you the next part of Celestria's life. Just a warning, it isn't as fluffy as all the other chapters before, but it's due time that Tria finds out more about her heritage . . . right? Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Chapter 3: Princess of Darkness
The ride to Hailey’s house was incredibly jam-packed. Hailey has two younger twin brothers who can change their personality in a split second. One time, they would be in complete sync, while other times they’d be fighting over who got the largest piece of cheese.
Unfortunately for Hailey and I, her brother’s seemed to be in warring zones today.
“Ugh, Aiden, watch where you’re putting your feet!”, Hailey complained.
“It isn’t my fault sis! Ethan is putting something on my side of the car! I need to reach the bashy thingy first to teach him a lesson!”, Aiden fought.
“Bashy thingy . . . ?”, I asked an exasperated Hailey.
Hailey sighed, “It’s what these two call that hand on a stick prize they won last weekend. They’ve been hitting each other with it this whole week!”.
“Not unless I get the bashy thingy first!”, Ethan retaliated.
The two started tackling each other in the backseat, with legs landing everywhere.
“ETHAN! AIDEN! STOP THIS RIDICULOUS FIGHT RIGHT NOW! WE HAVE GUESTS IN THIS CAR!”, Hailey’s mother, Janet screamed.
Hailey and I held our breath, her mother sure was a domineering figure.
“But muuuum”, the two whined in sync.
“No buts! I’m sorry, Celestria, dear, it isn’t that long before we reach your house”, Janet said.
“There’s really no need to apologise, Miss Janet. Aiden and Ethan are happy and that’s all that matters”, I replied.
The two boys started screeching at each other again.
“Yeah . . . they sure are happy”, Hailey said sarcastically.
I laughed.
By the time we had reached home, Hailey’s brothers had fallen asleep.
“Thankyou so much Miss Janet! I don’t know how I would’ve gotten home if it weren’t for you!”, I thanked.
“Haha, it’s nothing dear. Just say hello to your parents for me. Have a good night!”, Janet said as she drove off.
I smiled as I saw the back of their car driving away.
“Celestria”, a hoarse voice behind me called.
“Dad? What’s going on? Are you okay?”, I asked him, brows furrowed.
My dad beckoned to the door, “Just come in here for a second”.
I nodded, worried.
I sat down on the table with my Mother and Father and waited for them to speak.
“Celestria . . . we have something to say. We’ve been keeping this from you for a while now and we know it isn’t fair to you”, Mother started.
I tensed up, wanting to know yet not wanting to know what’s next.
“But before we say it, I want you to know how much we love you and how much you deserve to be loved. You are the greatest daughter anyone could ask for! Raising you was one of the best decisions of my life. You’re amazing Celestria . . . but it seems like the world needs your gift more than we do”, Dad continued.
Before I knew it, I had tears falling down my face, “Dad . . . “
My mum sighed, “The truth is Tria . . . you’re adopted”.
My heart stopped. The world around me was a blur. It felt like I was drowning. There it was, the big fat truth. I shouldn’t be this surprised, just by looking at my mum and dad you’d know that I was adopted. My mum with her brown hair and green eyes and my dad with his blonde hair and brown eyes. It isn’t logical for them to have a child with ink black hair and violet eyes.
I was different from this family. I wasn’t biologically part of it.
My parents turned to me with pained faces.
My mum stared at me, tears pooling in her eyes, “And it’s because of that . . . that we have to let you go. We’re really sorry Celestria. It was a joy raising you and I hope that you don’t forget us because we’ll never forget you”, she cried.
“W-what? Mum, Dad, I know I’m not your biological daughter . . . but are you really going to kick me out? Have you never loved me?!”, I sobbed. I knew I was being immature and childish but at that point I didn’t care. Will I really be all alone in this world?
“No, no, Tria, that isn’t it my girl”, my dad made a move to hug me.
I flinched from him, fear and misery evident on my face, “Answer me, dad. Are you going to be leaving me”.
As the setting sun left it’s post and the night was absolute, I felt powerful under the moonlight. This darkness that surrounded me was . . . so abundant.
It’s everywhere. It’s unlimited. I feel like I can finally be free.
But the feeling of relief was soon taken over by pain as my parents didn’t meet my eyes. My anger burned, swirls of black and violet surrounded the room, extinguishing the lights. I clenched my hands tightly, trying in vain to keep my powerful emotions inside but the night seemed to bow to my every feeling.
The darkness rattled everything in the dining area, my violet eyes flashed as I glared at my parents.
“Who am I really? I know that you know this isn’t normal. So who am I really! Am I a monster? Is that why you're telling me to leave?!”, I said, my voice somehow echoing.
My dad looked at me with regret, “No, that isn’t it all Tria! Please just calm down!”.
But I couldn’t hear him over the howling of darkness, “I can be normal! If I am normal will you still love me? I promise I’ll never do anything bad! Please . . . . just don’t leave me!”, I whined.
After those words left my mouth, my power drained me. I slumped back in my chair, the light returning to the room and items falling back where they were supposed to be. I slouched my back, hiding my face behind my hair. “Do you still love me?”, I asked
“Oh my darling, of course we still love you!”, My mother cried and came over to hug me.
This time I didn’t leave her touch but I still tensed in her arms.
“So who am I, mum? What am I?”, I asked.
My parents looked at eachother and finally my dad nodded, “Celestria . . . you are a goddess. The youngest daughter of the weakened Erebus and Nyx. You’re place is with the other powerful creators of this world”.
I stopped, “What? Nyx? Erebus?”.
My dad sighed, “Yes, from Greek Mythology Tria”.
“No, no, no, no, that isn’t possible. It’s not real dad! There’s no way it’s real! I’m your adopted daughter, the same as any girl my age! I’m not . . . I won’t believe this!”, I screamed.
My dad gave me a kind smile, “Oh . . . but they are”, he said and pointed to the outside garden which was now shrouded in darkness.
A crowd of nocturnal animals turned to me, bowing their heads, “Princess of Darkness, it is an honour to be your humble servants. We await your arrival to your home”.
There were a million things going in my mind right then but the only thing that I could hear was the title Princess of Darkness.
Conclusion & Claimer
And there it is! The third and one of the most important moments of Celestria's life. To those of you whom may be thinking, no, this isn't her Claiming. But it will come soon, I promise! I'll probably be changing some things in this fic so I'm sorry if the facts don't match well with the real Greek Mythology.
Thankyou so much for reading Chapter 3 of Daughter of Darkness! Just like I've said before, I'm open to any ships and everything mentioned in this fanfic is based of my imagination. Any similar occurrence in real life is pure coincidence. That aside, I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
