Autumn leaves in a kaleidoscope of bright oranges, warm yellow and vibrant red fell onto your tiny nose. Lying on the forest floor with a book in your hand, the wind gushed today as much as it did on the day you were born. That day, the Tamer of the Celestial Tree had been the one to tie your fates together. But it seems as if he had made a mistake. Because the three of you could not be more different.
You suddenly remember your sister, Adira. Her golden eyes, cocoa skin and silver hair made her look like a warrior goddess. She was so adventurous and brave, always waiting for her time to be the heroine she was born to be. She'd gasp and point at everything, wanting no more than to go out of our house and live.
The thought of your brother, Castiel crossed your mind. He wasn't as open nor brave as Adira but he was patient, elegant and inquisitive. He stepped up to problems only when he needed to, but he'd much rather keep things less climatic.
You loved the two of them with a depth that you hadn't thought possible in someone as heartless as you. That's why you could never blame them for this. You winced, your hand unconsciously flying to your dislocated ankle. You left your book on the floor and held onto the bundle of herbs in your hands even tighter. You were hoping to gift these to Castiel who was always infatuated with his tea set. But you were foolish and hadn't noticed the small, deep ditch in front of you. Luckily, you didn't fall into it and merely tripped.
Castiel found you a few minutes ago, but when he saw you in your state, his face distorted into one of fear and he walked away. Adira was somewhere running around in the wheat field. I guess the Tamer of the Celestial truly had made a mistake, you thought. The three of us were not destined to work together. . .
The rustling of the bushes pulled you out of your sorrow and you picked up your book as your only weapon. You held it, hand quivering. But instead, Adira escaped from under the branches and surrounded you in a bone-crushing hug. Tears stung your eyes, not realising how much you had missed your sister.
Seconds later, Castiel emerged too and gave you a quick apologetic look before diving next to you and taking your herbs from your hands. Flabbergasted, you watched as he took plants from his own pocket and crushed them in his wooden teacup before filling the cup with water from his teapot and mixing it with the stick. Once done, he gently placed the ointment over the swelling. You winced but soon the pain was numbed away.
You were surprised. He managed to replicate the recipe you had shown him. Heaving you up, Castiel and Adira followed your directions back home. Or wherever that was. The three of you were way too far away and your young bodies couldn't handle it any longer.
Adira, noticing your tiredness, laid you down on a soft patch of forest floor, indicating for you to rest. You shook your head, knowing that you had to get back, but by then your two siblings had begun to doze off next to you. Taking off your large autumn jacket, you soothed them to sleep and placed your jacket on top of the three of you.
Maybe . . .just maybe . . .
The Tamer of the Celestial Tree hadn't made a mistake after all.
Maybe we were destined to help each other rather than burden.
You looked at your siblings, We . . . really do make the perfect harmony.
Minutes later, two mothers stumbled upon their three beautiful children sleeping soundly in the forest. Tears of relief and gasps of shock took over their senses as they scooped their children into their arms. At last, everything was pieced together again. You were home.
