Hi there! Welcome back to my blog, it's Lilly! For this week's new reaction series I'm excited to introduce: Disney's Descendants! I haven't included movies in my blog description yet but I'm sure this'll be a great addition! I remember watching the first movie from this Disney Collection back in year 1 and I absolutely worship it! My friends did too and it was the talk of the year! I guess I was a fangirl even before I knew it! For this week's blog post, I'll be reacting to the first movie! Let's get into it!
Summary
Benjamin Florian, the teenage son of King Beast and Queen Belle of Aurodan suggests the idea to invite four of the most villainous villain's children in the fairy tales to attend the kingdom's prep school! Ben is famously known as the sole child of the royal ducal couple and the crown prince of Aurodon.
A few years ago, Queen Belle and King Beast established the United States of Aurodon, starting a flourishing and good-natured nation whilst banishing the fairy-tale villains to the slum-like Isle of the Lost! A barrier was created around the Isle so that no villain could ever escape and no magic could be used inside.
As Crown Prince, Ben is determined to make his first order as king to invite four chosen children from the Isle to live in Aurodon! The fated four include Jay, son of Jafar (from Aladdin), Carlos, son of Cruella De Vil (from a hundred-and-one Dalmatians), Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen (from Snow White) and Mal, the daughter of Maleficent!
In the Isle of the Lost, Maleficent commands Mal to steal the Fairy Godmother's powerful wand in a wicked scheme to destroy the barrier and take over Auradon!
My Reaction
My first time watching Descendants, I believed that it'd be a lot like those other Disney Princess movie's. I was about confirm my suspicion when I saw the ever-legendary book but I wasn't expecting to see a tablet instead of pages!
The animation was really cute and smooth and I loved it! I also loved how they chose Mal to introduce us to the movie instead of the typical old wizard-like voice! It was way more emotive.
Sadly, we can't see the female lead yet . . . but we do get to see the Crown Prince of Aurodon (and the male lead): Benjamin Flourin! And someone who's taking his measurements, which, in my opinion, is ruining his window-gazing moment.
We also get to meet his parents in all their royalty! I love the connection the family has, it was so fluffy! Unfortunately, it was ruined- but for a good cause! Bal (Ben x Mal) couldn't have been created if it wasn't for this historical moment!
We finally get to meet the main characters : Mal, Jay, Evie (Queen!) and Carlos! The voices, music and dance was so in sync, I couldn't help replaying the song! Maleficent and Mal's relationship wasn't the best.
But at least Maleficent cared enough to give her daughter a pep talk! Sort of. The guards were right where they needed to be, that part where the three tried to escape but was caught was really cute! Unfortunately for Mal and her friends, no matter how much they disagreed, they were still forced to go the school.
This movie was definitely added to my "Childhood Favourite's list"! The songs, plot and cosplay equipment was magnificent! I was rather upset when Descendants 4 isn't confirmed, but that doesn't mean I can't watch the first 3 as many times as possible! Descendants is one of my all-time-favourites and if you enjoy this movie, please like and comment! I'll be sure to update this series' reactions!
Love,
Lilly
