Miraculous is Simply the Best - The Birth of Ladybug Part 1: Part 1

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

Hi! It's Lilly and welcome back to my blog! If you haven't cracked the code from the title yet, my next reaction series will be based on one of my childhood favourites: Miraculous! (I got inspiration for the name when I was listening to the theme song in maths class). In year 2, my life practically evolved around this series and I was so disappointed in myself that I didn't find out about this sooner! Today, I'll be commenting to the first episode: The Birth of Ladybug Part 1! I absolutely love the series (and Ayla) and I'm so excited to share my feelings about it with you! So, without further ado, let's get started!

You can watch the episode here! (It's a bit glitchy though)

Summary

In the first seconds of the episode, we don't know who the protagonists are yet, but we do know the villain. Even before we know the hero's, we already know who they're up against and what he wants.

Nooroo talks Hawkmoth (and us) through the powers of the miraculouses as we learn that Hawkmoth has the special jewellery too. As hawkmoth does his evil transformation and laugh, this show of evil attracts the attention of another animal like Nooroo: a kwami.

This surprises the kwami as he tells his master, a man of an unknown origin and he sets out to find the next miraculous hero's, fearing the damage that could be cause by Hawkmoth. That's when our beautiful and kind (and clumsy) female lead is revealed: Marinette Dupain Cheng!

We also get to meet Marinette's mum who is sweet and supportive, and her dad, a baker. While Marinette takes a bunch of macaroons from her father to give to her class, we're also shown how talented she is design.

Lucky for Marinette, her school is right across the road and that's where she meets the "Master" of before. Marinette saves him from getting hit by a vehicle and the "Master" figures that she has the heart of a heroine and gifts her with the miraculouses secretly.

As Marinette races into class, we get to have a brief overview of the class environment.

We meet Nino (the stereotypical music-loving, lazy, slang-using kid), Ayla (the amazing side-heroine), Sabrina (the stereotypical Lady-In-Waiting who sucks up to the powerful) and of course, the almighty Queen Bee: Chloe (the stereotypical sassy diva with a hoarse laugh).

While class drags on, we meet the male lead: Adrien Agreste, as he runs away from his father and into his school. Adrien gets cut off by the Master from before and helps him up with his cane, the Master also finds a hero's heart in him and secretly gifts him with a miraculous.

Hawkmoth then akumatisez someone with the use of his miraculous and Ivan's (Marinette's classmate's) negative emotions. Stone Heart goes on to destroy the city as both Adrien and Marinette meet their kwami's and figure out their powers, they transform into heroes.

They get into a pretty awkward start, but they get better . . . eventually. On the other side of the city, Stone Heart chases after the bully (I forgot his name). The heroes realise that by hitting the monster, he only gets bigger.

Cat Noir (as Adrien's hero name) is really energetic to fight, but Ladybug (as Marinette) is thinking of a way to fight back.

Marinette uses her lucky charm and is given a swimsuit (so much for super power), but she uses it to make Stoneheart drop the akumatized object and smashes it to revert him back into a human before he gets his hands on it.

Marinette and Adrien celebrate bit too early though, the akumatized butterfly flies of to tall tower where it multiplies and starts Stone heart-ing other people too! Guilty, Marinette takes off her miraculous and tiki disappears!

Reaction

To start off, I adore the theme song! Although it does basically tell you about the key plot of the whole series, the song is just so catchy and upbeat! That aside, I feel like I'm the only one who likes the miraculous jewels because they're pretty.

I understand that they're powerful and everything, but even if they weren't, I'd still love to have them! (I'm currently eyeing Ayla's future necklace).

After Nooroo finishes his speech about the miraculous (he's adorable by the way), the episode reveals the antagonist of the series: Hawk Moth. Which honestly, isn't a very good name choice.

When the "Master" ( I haven't thought of a good name for him yet and I don't want to spoil it, so for now, I'm sticking with "Master") showed up, he seemed pretty sus. But I came to the conclusion that he was a good guy.

When our female lead was introduced, I loved her! Mari is dramatic, sly, sweet and that trademark side of her: clumsy! Not to mentioned I worship her room, it's pink and aesthetically dotty! What could be more perfect?!

I was generally expecting Marinette to get hit by the car and get reincarnated into a world of cultivation (I've read too many manga's👉👈), but it made more sense when the Master gave her the jewellery piece.

The school environment was pretty clichéd but every character had their own different personality which was quite rare for me to see. The second Chloe appeared, I already knew she would be playing the role of villainess! Her voice artist really matched her personality!

One of the biggest reasons as to why I loved Chloe is because it was because of her that our Mari could be best friend's with Alya! Hooray for my Queen!

But I was not expecting Adrien to be that cute! It's illegal, it's even more unfair that his puppy-like personality is cuter than what he looks like! I though that it wasn't even possible! But the beautiful scene had to be ruined by Hawkmoth's appearance.

Although, I'm honestly quite grateful, it was because of him that we could meet Tikki and Plagg! That's just what I needed! More cuteness and fluff! Sadly, the kwami's had to disappear when Adrien turned into Cat Noir and Marinette turns into Ladybug.

The hero costumes were unique and simple, but, in my opinion, Marinette could've nailed that costume with long, untied blue hair.

Was I the only one that was surprised because of Adrien's change of personality? I hope not. Before, he was a caged puppy, but when he transformed, he suddenly turned into a bright, flirtatious, cheerful, loud and energetic kitten!

I was a bit down when I realised that Marinette's powers only went that far, saying that hers was one of the most powerful miraculouses because it was the power of creation, but I figured that that it matched her personality even more!

Our Mari was the perfect heroine! I was so ready to watch the feast where hopefully Adrien and Mari would kiss, but sadly, Hawkmoth just couldn't read the signs and decided to pollute the sky with those beautiful but dangerous butterflies.

I was so ready for more butt-kicking . . . but the cursed producer decided to make it a cliff-hanger! On the first episode! I was angrily sobbing and putting on a tantrum in my room! The world could be so unfair sometimes!

As much as I was mad at the producers, I was grateful for their hard work. I love the miraculous series! And, lucky for me, there's now countless seasons! I hope you enjoyed this post, if you did, please like and comment! I'll be sure to continue this blog series and shout out my love for Alya!

Love,

Lillian
