Percy Jackson Reaction - The Lightening Thief: Part 4

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

Welcome back to Eckheart! It's Lilly here! For this week's post, we'll be delving through my past posts and continue following Percy's first adventure! Before we start, I want to apologise for neglecting my fandom reaction posts. I was a bit too carried away with the outfits. But- on the brighter side, if you'd like, I'd love to create outfits for each of the PJO Camp Half Blood cabins! Please tell me what you think in the comments below! That aside, let's start the reaction!

Summary

The last time we visited the PJO fandom, Percy, Grover and Annabeth continue their quest west but waste a lot of time at the Lotus Casino. Sadly, because of this misstep, the trio only have one day to find and return the Lightning Bolt.

The three reach Santa Maria where Percy gets given three pearls from the spirit who visited him earlier in the story. When searching for directions to the Underworld, the trio meet an unfriendly monster named Crusty. After Percy won the battle between him and Crusty, he finds the address to the entrance in the underworld.

Once they reached the Underworld, Percy meets Charon, the underworld's security officer who let's them in. Percy, Annie and Grover get to meet the adorable Cerberus, who was frightening at first, but Annie was able to command the three-headed giant dog. On their way to Hades's house, Luke's gift to Percy, now, Grover's flying shoes, drag the satyr to the pit Percy has had nightmares about.

Thankfully, the shoes fell of before it could bring Grover into the pit. Shaken, the three reach the house and Hades accuses Percy of stealing his fabled "Helm of Darkness" and even Zeus's Master Bolt which was in the backpack he had received from Ares. Angry, Hades demanded Percy to get his Helm back and was willing to exchange Sally's life. Percy, after a lot of though, refuses, but after Hades threatened to overthrow the world by the dead, Percy finally agreed.

Reaction

At this part of the book, I remember taking The Lightening Thief with me everywhere! I loved and regret starting the series. It was only the first book and I was already sleep-deprived and had a sore throat from squealing and sobbing! Sometimes, I even did the two at the same time! (Not exactly an experience I'm proud of, haha)

Much like the book, I loved and loathed the Lotus Casino! Hotel-grade rooms, delicious food and an arcade with unlimited turns. Who could possibly turn that down?! Definitely not me! But . . . Percy, Annie and Grover ended up with only one day to return the Lightening Bolt which almost made me drop my ice-cream!

Crusty gave me an odd feeling, but it surprised me how easily Percy could defeat him! Our male lead makes me so proud! Charon and Cerberus, were, in my opinion, extremely underrated! It's amazing how easily Uncle Ricky can relate such magical beings to humans! And Annie was such a Queen taking the initiative like that to protect Percy and Grover from the three-headed-dog!

I was so shocked when Grover was about to be dragged down Tartarus, but thank god, he wasn't! I read the atmosphere and felt that there will be a betrayal coming soon. I wasn't so sure if I was happy or angry to see that I was right! I believed that Ares was a generous and naturally kind god to help the trio like that!

But . . . in the very least . . . Sally Jackson can be saved! Mother-son fluff lives on!

Thanks for reading about this post on Percy's adventure! I want to say sorry again for being absent in this fandom, but I promise to make up for it! If you'd like me to change or improve something on this fandom or my blog in general, I'd love to hear what you think! Comments of all types are deeply cherished and I'll reply as soon as possible!
